Flowers & Antique Doors

When I started toying with the idea of planting flowers this season to increase my homestead's biodiversity, it got me thinking about what I would actually do with all the beautiful flowery abundance.
In order to keep things blooming all season long and support any beneficial insects that find my space, I would need to cut my flowers on a strict and regular basis. This means the abundance of cut flowers I would have weekly would likely take over my home and then some.
After a long, I mean very long winter and spring, we are finally into the warmer months and I have built a greenhouse, expanded my garden and planted my flowers, along with more herbs and native perennials. Things are in the early stages of growing. Yay me!

I had initially decided this year would just be an expand the gardens biodiversity/practice growing year, but like I said early, it was a lonnnng winter. Pinterest got the best of me and my farmstand dreams were in overdrive.
By divine timing I stumbled upon 5 antique solid wood doors and made the decision to build the farmstand this year. Now that planting is done I can get to building the stand. I have wanted a farmstand for years but living on a dead end gravel road prevented me from going further with that dream. I’m not really sure what changed for 2025 but I think people want community connections these days and support for local, seasonal and regenerative goods are in demand right now. I also like the hands off approach to an honour famstand.

If you've followed me on social media for sometime, you'll know I’ve been an entrepreneur for years but I seem to have a problem once I get to the marketing and selling my products stage. I think a self serve farmstand is the answer for both my busy community as well as how I seem to run my businesses.
Enhance Biodiversity on my homestead, get flowers and seasonal, regenerative herbs and remedies out into my community and not have to be at a market or pop up somewhere seems like a win win to me.

I am no stranger to exciting new adventures, I have had my fair share over the years but somehow this one feels so right. It seems to tie in my love for helping people with my desire to grow, create and tinker and my insatiable desire for a deeper connection to my land.
